144-acre redevelopment site acquired in Derbyshire

MARCOL Industrial has acquired the former Coalite plant in Bolsover, Derbyshire, in a joint venture with Midlands based environmental specialists DSM Group. The 144 acre site is to be remediated by DSM and developed by the JV for a variety of uses.

Located close to Junction 29a of the M1 and with an existing rail connection, the master plan has been designed to support and enhance commercial and employment opportunities in Bolsover and North East Derbyshire and to address the local demand for new housing. The plan includes industrial and storage facilities, multi-use business units and up to 800 homes with associated retail and community facilities. In addition there are plans to develop a waste to energy plant on site that will provide ‘green’ heat and power to the completed development.

An outline planning application is due to be submitted before the end of 2013, subject to which development is scheduled to commence in 2014.
