MARCOL Health invests in the fast-growing online pharmacy and health-products sector

Aponeo was founded in 2006, with its operations based in Berlin, Germany. Customers of Aponeo can purchase, online or via a call center, a large selection of prescription or Over-The-Counter (OTC) medicines, in addition to, health and beauty products. The growth of the business has been impressive, from 4,000 items sold per day in 2007 to now averaging almost 18,000 items per day. Over the years, the business has grown a loyal customer base of over one million individuals that purchase on a regular basis.

MARCOL Health is providing the business with a substantial national and an international infrastructure as well as growth capital to both accelerate national expansion across Germany and enter new international markets.

The investment plan currently underway will increase the capacity of the business by setting up a brand new operational centre (again in Berlin) in 2016 capable of processing over 100,000 items per day. Aponeo will also be investing in building its brand presence, to promote the highest quality of services whilst preserving cost efficiency for the customers and establish market leadership in this fast growing sector.

The new Berlin operation will be very well positioned to service most countries initially in Central and Northern Europe. This will be Aponeo’s initial plan to expand the business outside of the German borders. The business has a longer-term strategy to work closely with MARCOL Health with a view to establishing similar centres in a variety of international regions.

Konstantin Primbas, Aponeo’s Founder and CEO commented “this is such a tremendous opportunity to take a business I started locally, to turn it into a truly global enterprise and to promote internationally the quality of German products, I’m very happy to be a partner with MARCOL Health and have access to their experience and international resources, together I’m sure the vision will be realised”.

Ed Radkiewicz MARCOL Health’s Managing Director responded “from the outset, Mr Primbas and his team showed such great passion in a very robust business model, they’ve also demonstrated their progressive and innovative thinking for this industry by building a very successful business and are now ready to take it to the next level, we are very enthused to be their partner for the journey!”
